The more I’m seeing of Unknown 9: Awakening, the more I’m excited to play it.
It’s set in a wider ‘storyworld’ that is made up of a range of different mediums to expand the universe the game is set in (including podcast, novels and a graphic novel). And now, ahead of the game’s launch on 18 October, publisher Bandai Namco have released a cinematic launch trailer to get you suitably hyped for its release!

Unknown 9: Awakening was revealed earlier this year in March, and focuses on the story of Haroona, a Quaestor (a group of people responsible for uncovering lost wisdom) who was born with the ability to travel into the "Fold": a mysterious parallel dimension that overlaps with our own. Throughout the game you will learn to control your abilities and explore the Fold, uncovering previously lost knowledge.
Of course, there are some ne'er-do-wells lurking around, The Ascendants, who want the power of the Fold all to themselves, and begin to target Haroona. To defeat them, you can employ combat and stealth techniques that use physical and Umbric (your special powers) abilities, which includes the ability to take control of enemies and set up a chain of attacks using your environment and your unaware enemies.
Last week, the developer, Reflector Entertainment, revealed the technical features that will be coming to the PC release of the game. During the summer, they also revealed an extended look at the gameplay which gave a good look at the various combat, stealth and Umbric abilities you’ll be using the in-game.
Unknown 9: Awakening releases on 18 October for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series.
