Not only will Until Dawn be dropping on October the 4th on PlayStation 5, but it is coming to PC the very same day, which personally as a PC player I’m excited to see.
Being a remake we are seeing a ton of improvements from the original game. You can see the full list in detail on the PlayStation blog but some of those improvements include:
- Updated character models, environments, interactable props, visual effects, and animations, all designed to maximize the Until Dawn experience on both PS5 and PC using Unreal Engine 5
- Complete overhaul of the lighting to take advantage of Unreal Engine 5's rendering features, including raytracing and enhanced materials, focusing on a more atmospheric and "modern horror" experience
- Reworked Prologue to feature the Washingtons more
- New collectibles as well as relocating the original collectibles
- New accessibility and usability settings that will help more players enjoy the game.
- A new optional alternative for the Don't Move mechanic called Stay Calm. Stay Calm is for third party peripherals that do not feature a gyroscope or for players who prefer a different challenge.

The original Until Dawn launched on the PlayStation 4 on August 25th, 2015 and received good reviews, scoring a 79 on metacritic. For those unaware, the original was actually planned for the PlayStation 3. According to the Games Wiki page, it was originally supposed to be a Playstation move game but support for that was dropped when it was moved to the PlayStation 4.
The developers also dropped a comparison video to see all the changes and upgrades which you can see below:
