For as much good vibes have been around PlayStation and Helldivers 2 since launch it appears they've made a decision that isn't sitting well with fans.
PlayStation and Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Studios have announced that beginning May 6th all new players will be required to login to a PlayStation network account in order to play the game, and current users have until June 4th to comply or will be unable to play.

In the statement safety and security is cited as the reason for this change.
"Account linking plays a critical role in protecting our players and upholding the values of safety and security provided on PlayStation and PlayStation Studios games," Sony said in its statement. "This is our main way to protect players from griefing and abuse by enabling the banning of players that engage in that type of behavior. It also allows those players that have been banned the right to appeal."
It should also be noted that this was always expected to happen. The game launched with this requirement but when the game blew up and started to overload servers they removed the requirement for a "grace period".
Regardless this has sparked a fair amount of outrage amongst the community with many fans say this decision means they will simply abandon the game.

“I paid $40 for this game and got well over 100 hours of fun out of it, absolutely got my money's worth,” redditor dudeitsivan said. “Some of the most fun I've had playing video games in as long as I remember. I'll miss the game like crazy. But I will not be making a PS account."
Time will tell if this will affect the game enough to overturn this decision, but I suspect it won't. If you are a PC Helldivers player how are you feeling about this decision? Let us know in the comments below.
