“dear Xbox fans, positive vibes, let’s make this tweet go viral!”.
Sound familiar? If it does it’s because since July 3rd 2022, developers Digital Cybercherries have been campaigning to bring their first and third person action-figure shooter to Xbox’s platform (on Twitter anyways).
And, as of an emotional announcement today, Hypercharge has been confirmed to be coming to both Xbox Series consoles and Xbox One on 31 May!
Xbox once said, "Power Your Dreams"

And when I was a little kid, my dream was to make a game about action figures with my best friends.
That dream has come true.
On May 31st, 2024, Hypercharge will launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. pic.twitter.com/BEGvsRT1Qo
Hypercharge encourages you to team up with friends (though it can be played solo) to complete objectives, defend against waves of weaponised toys, and defeat ‘Major Evil’.
To do this you must help Sergeant Max Ammo (great name) save the Hypercore; there was once an ancient line of action figures, who created a magical power source that would allow humans to keep their favourite childhood memories of their toys. This ancient power source is known as the Hypercore.
Inside the Hypercore are the beloved memories of our favourite toys. If Major Evil destroys it, these memories will disappear forever. Defend it with everything you’ve got, or see our cherished toys turn into lost treasures of the past! So no pressure or anything.

The game itself looks super fun. Already available on PC and Nintendo Switch, it has already been well-received (9 / 10 on Steam with over 3000 reviews!). Hypercharge has offline, online multiplayer, local and online co-op, and cross-play so you’ve got a raft of options for how you play.
With all the recent news in the games industry around layoffs and concerns around sustainability news like this is heartwarming to see, you can see how much hard work has gone into making this happen, and we should celebrate these sorts of announcements. People getting to realise their dream and see more people enjoy something they’ve created, that’s what gaming is about.
Congrats to the team at Digital Cybercherries. I can’t wait to play when it comes to Xbox.
Will you be picking this up when it launches at the end of the month? Or have you already played?
