Some gamers will be facing a difficult choice this month: do they pick up the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, which releases today and has quickly become the highest critically rated game of 2026, or the upcoming juggernaut that is Grand Theft Auto VI, arguably one of the most anticipated pieces of media of the 21st century? The urge to ride across Hyrule Field and wield the Master Sword is matched by a need to cruise around the streets of Vice City and do crimes. Thankfully, we have a solution, and its name is Vice: Magic City Mayhem.
“Step into the shoes of Dutch, one of Magic City’s most feared enforcers, on a thrilling and dangerous quest to rescue your one true love, Sophie. Navigate through the chaos of wild nightclubs, scenic beaches, and raptor-infested yachts in this raunchy, high-stakes adventure.”
Developed and published by indie studio Jurassic Sunset Games, Vice: Magic City Mayhem is a top-down 8-bit retro action-adventure game that blends the team’s inspirations of Zelda and GTA: Vice City. The intricately designed dungeons, challenging puzzles, and rewarding exploration of the LoZ series are transplanted into a vibrant 80s-themed world crammed with the ridiculous storylines and dark humour that the GTA series is known for.
As you wander the gritty, neon-soaked streets of Magic City in search of your “Princess”, you’ll encounter an outrageous cast of characters and enemies, as well as several epic bosses, each with their own gimmicks and strategies. (I think we saw a fight against a dominatrix and her gimp-suited goons in a sex dungeon!) There are plenty of secret passages, hidden rooms, and Easter eggs to uncover, as well as a massive array of weapons and items, including throwing stars, sticks of dynamite, Kevlar vests, and dash boots.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign in October of last year, the devs announced in March that Vice: Magic City Mayhem would be released on November 18th; that’s right, the day before GTA VI launches! After all the commotion around games giving Rockstar’s upcoming release a wide berth, there is something almost poetic about the situation, and we just hope that GTA VI can handle the heat.
Vice: Magic City Mayhem launches on November 18th across PC, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2. A demo is available now on PC via Steam.
