Suda51 Teases The Return of Travis Touchdown for No More Heroes’ 20th Anniversary

Last month, Grasshopper Manufacture split from its owner, NetEase Games, to become an independently owned studio for the first time in over a decade. There has been plenty of speculation about what the studio will do with its regained independence, and in a recent interview with Famitsu, CEO Goichi ‘Suda51′ Suda teased some potential plans, including something for No More Heroes’ 20th anniversary next year.

Earlier this year, Grasshopper Manufacture released Romeo is a Dead Man, its first fully self-published title. While it had previously teased the announcement of a new game later in 2026, those plans seem to have changed after it confirmed that it had split from parent company NetEase in October to become independent for the first time since it was acquired by GungHo Online Entertainment in 2013.

In a new interview with Famitsu (via VideoGamesChronicle), Suda teased that Grasshopper Manufacture is working with No More Heroes publisher Marvelous for something to celebrate the series’ 20th anniversary next year: “We’re planning to deliver something special, so please look forward to it. Travis Touchdown is definitely coming back!”

No More Heroes was originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2007. It and 2005’s Killer7 were Grasshopper Manufacture’s breakout hits in North America, achieving a dedicated cult following. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle was released in 2010 before the series went on hiatus while Grasshopper worked on titles such as Lollipop Chainsaw, Shadows of the Damned, and Let It Die. In 2017, Suda teased the return of the series during the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event, which would eventually result in 2019’s Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, and 2021’s No More Heroes III.

After Marvelous parent company GungHo sold Grasshopper Manufacture to NetEase in 2021, shortly before the launch of No More Heroes III, it seemed unlikely that the series would continue, but it seems circumstances have changed thanks to Grasshopper’s independence. What form this reunion will take remains to be seen, but the original games remain available on PC and Nintendo Switch via remasters, while No More Heroes III is multiplatform.
