Beautiful pixel art title, The Road of Dust and Sorrow will be releasing before the end of the year. In the new release date trailer below, developer Painted Black Games have confirmed that their ‘story-driven cozy horror adventure’ will arrive on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 on December 3, 2026.
A linear experience that features exploration, puzzles and grizzly combat, Painted Black Games say that the game is inspired by the likes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Playing as Katherine, you will have to survive a world that has been ravaged by a crop which was supposed to end human famine. Twisting humans into feral creatures known as Dusters, Katherine must protect her daughter, Ava through a bleak, apocalyptic world.

Katherine’s journey will involve tackling decaying streets, finding hidden paths and surviving the ravenous Dusters as she does everything in her power to keep Ava alive, above all else.
There is clearly hype growing around this release as the developers have also confirmed that the game has made its way onto 150,000 wishlists. What better way to celebrate than this gorgeous resting pixel cat:
