At the Tokyo Game Show today, Raji: Kaliyuga got a deeper look into its gameplay with a new trailer. The game features two protagonists: Raji, the warrior of faith, is joined this time by her brother, Darsh, the dreamwalker. The two offer different gameplay styles and will switch between being playable at different points throughout the game. Raji and Darsh will help each other through exploration and platforming, with Darsh able to use magic to create new paths and Raji assisting him with her superior acrobatics.

One of the common criticisms of the first game was its combat not feeling the best, and that’s something that looks to be addressed with Kaliyuga. Raji fights using acrobatics and powerful martial arts with her divine trishul trident, which can command powerful lightning-based attacks. Raji weaves in and out to get up close and personal and can even launch herself off of larger enemies to unleash more powerful attacks.
Darsh, on the other hand, is a ranged fighter. He commands different kinds of energy orbs and inflicts different effects onto his enemies, ranging from gravity tornadoes to summoning a black hole to destroy anyone in sight. He can also combine his attack effects, and when he stacks one effect on one enemy, he can unleash devastating area attacks.
We also got glimpses of a unique dodge system, dubbed the customized evasion system. Instead of just a standard dodge roll, Kaliyuga will see Raji perform rolls, flips, and sidesteps while Darsh twirls and rolls. Each option you choose has its own unique follow-ups with their own advantages.
Raji: An Ancient Epic was noted when it launched in 2020 for being a very different take on ancient Hindu lore with a more feminist depiction, and its art style based on Pahari paintings. There’s no official date for Raji: Kaliyuga yet, but it’s planned to launch on PC, Xbox Series platforms, Nintendo Switch 2, and PS5. The game will also be playable on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
