King Of Meat Creators Announce Wealth-Hoarding Roguelite Rogue Fortune

Glowmade, the Guildford-based indie studio that released the online dungeon-crawler King of Meat last year, revealed their next title, Rogue Fortune, during the XBOX Gamescom 2026 showcase, with plans to release it across PC and consoles in 2027.

Check out the Rogue Fortune announcement trailer below.

“In Rogue Fortune, players cast themselves into the Well of Eternal Riches and find a cursed temple that instantly grants their wish for a lifetime of treasures … if only they can escape the accursed depths. Surviving the temple means facing untold enemies, deadly contraptions, and the burden of greed. Every attack or dodge comes with a cost, and players must choose between protecting their precious fortune or spending it to improve their chance of making it out alive.”

Rogue Fortune is a single-player isometric action-roguelite with a focus on gathering treasure and a geometric twist on Gear and Relic management. At the start of a run, players equip Gear, which determines the shape of their Backpack. As they progress upwards through the Temple, they will gather tetrimino-shaped Relics that must be slotted into the shape made by their Backpack, interacting with a player’s Gear and other Relics, leading to some crazy and potentially run-winning effects.

We got an early look at Rogue Fortune in action during a behind-closed-doors digital presentation hosted by Glowmade co-founder and studio head Jonny Hopper, with lead game designer Oliver Wauters playing through the game. Following the presentation, we also had the opportunity to put some questions to Hopper about the game’s narrative, progression, and systems.

However, Gear and Relics aren’t simply a means of improving your stats. Hopper explained that the two systems can combine to alter players’ skills and attacks, with effects ranging from freezing enemies to leaving pools of fire behind when dodging. Gear can also apply “Stacking” effects to Relics, while some pieces of Gear can alter the behaviour of objects within the Temple itself, potentially revealing new ways to interpret its secrets.

Whether or not a run is successful, players will unlock Gear and Personas, character archetypes with different stats and behaviours, to use on future runs. Couple that with the various Relics you can discover and a constantly shifting dungeon; no two runs through the Well of Eternal Riches will likely be the same. The Temple isn’t simply a series of randomly generated rooms, either, with Hopper teasing that players will need to learn how to “read” their surroundings to uncover its secrets. Certain Gear can even reshape the environment and alter the behaviour of objects, potentially opening up new ways to navigate the Temple.

While Rogue Fortune won’t feature traditional boss fights, each biome will culminate in a unique “Skill Challenge”, with the Temple putting everything players have learned to the test. During the presentation, Glowmade showed off The Fallen Sanctuary, the game’s first biome, which ends with a challenge designed to test the skills players have acquired up to that point. Each subsequent biome will introduce its own enemies, traps, and challenges before culminating in another Skill Challenge, with Glowmade promising that the environments will become progressively harder and stranger as players ascend.

Between runs, players return to a hub at the top of the Well, where they can choose their Persona, purchase new Gear, and configure their Backpack before spending their Phials, Rogue Fortune’s currency, and diving back into the Temple.

Those who manage to escape the Temple, battling hordes of monsters whilst hoovering up as much gold as they can, will have their wealth measured against other escapees on various leaderboards, incentivising players to try again and improve their score.

There is more to Rogue Fortune than simply escaping the Well, too. While Glowmade isn’t ready to reveal much about the game’s narrative just yet, Hopper told us that repeated attempts will gradually reveal who, or what, built the Temple, why it exists, and what might want to prevent players from escaping. There is also a mysterious voice accompanying players on their journey, although whether it can be trusted remains to be seen.

Rogue Fortune is coming to PC and consoles in 2027.
