There’s been a whole load of Final Fantasy VII Revelation info released today, including release date, Collector’s Edition and a new look at gameplay.
Release Date
At the PlayStation State of Play, we got two looks at the finale to the Final Fantasy VII remake saga. The first trailer confirmed the exciting news that Final Fantasy VII Revelations will officially release on 8 April 2027. As previously confirmed, it will release simultaneously on PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series consoles.

Extended Look at Gameplay
During the State of Play, we got an extended, ten-minute look at gameplay from the upcoming game. This showed off exploration using the airship, the Highwind. You’ll be able to fly to locations across the expansive map and airdrop in. You’ll also be able to explore with your Chocobo steed and the new grappling gun.
Gameplay also showed off the new ‘FITS’ system which allows your characters to take on roles, such as ‘Summoner’ to increase their skills and give them special abilities and synergies.

Expansion Pass
It’s been confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will feature a Story Expansion Pass. The Expansion Pass includes an accessory set and two Story DLCs.
The accessory set includes the Reclaimant Choker (slightly restores HP when enemies are defeated a survival set ( a set of items that will aid you during the early stages of your journey).
The first DLC is focused on Sephiroth, with the second DLC is focused on Vincent & the Turks. They will release between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028.
Additional Downloads on Launch for Physical
It’s been confirmed by Square Enix that when Final Fantasy VII Revelation releases on 8 April 2027, it will require additional game data in order to play it.
- PlayStation 5 will release on one Blu-Ray disc. An internet connection is required to download additional game data in order to play the physical version of the game.
- Xbox Series will release on one Blu-Ray disc. An internet connection is required to download additional game data in order to play the physical version of the game.
- Nintendo Switch 2 physical versions will be released on Game-Key Cards. The game data must be downloaded when launching the title for the first time. An internet connection and at least 130 GB of available storage space are required for the download.
