ShipShaper: Falconeer Chronicles, the latest game from acclaimed solo developer Tomas Sala, releases today, September 2nd, into Early Access on PC via Steam.
The third entry in Sala’s Falconeer Chronicles series, ShipShaper is a creation game solely focused on designing naval vessels of varying sizes and styles. Taking what he had learned and designed with his previous title, the sandbox-style building game Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, Tomas has developed an approachable interface and simple mechanics, meaning no intimidating 3D tools, rigid grids, or correct answers. Players simply pull, push, bend and shape forms into fishing vessels, tall ships, ironclads, submarines, or any other watertight vessel their minds can conjure up.
Once you’re done adjusting the height of your sails or the colour of your hull, take your new creation out on its maiden voyage to admire it on the open ocean, or maybe you’d rather display it in a bottle or handcrafted diorama. A third option, which Tomas added as “an homage to my [Tomas’] modding roots”, is to export the FBX or STL 3D files with a license to use for 3D printing, modding, and indie development. Fans of Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles can even import their ShipShaper creations into the game, as well as be used in future games Tomas develops.
“ShipShaper is about creating a foundational technology that will power my own future games, connect my franchise, but also empower other creators to have fun with ships and have a usable output, game-ready and usable.“

With regards to the game going into Early Access, Tomas says that it has already been “heavily influenced by the community” and likes “tinkering with my games after they’re mostly done“. No date has been given for ShipShaper’s 1.0 release.
ShipShaper will be the third game by Sala to be published by Wired Productions, and as stated in the press release, “The launch celebrates the next chapter in Wired Productions and Tomas Sala’s long-standing partnership, following The Falconeer and Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, with the pair recently signing a new seven-year publishing agreement.
The deal gives Tomas the freedom to keep exploring the Falconeer universe, alongside whatever weird, wonderful and unexpected ideas come next. Wired will be right there with him for the journey.”
ShipShaper: Falconeer Chronicles is out now on PC in Early Access for $8:99/£6.99 with a 10% launch discount. A demo is also available on PC via Steam.
