It’s been quite awhile since we’ve seen a new Rainbow Six game. With how popular Rainbow Six Siege has been over the last decade, it’s kind of surprising. Well today at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live Ubisoft revealed a new game in the franchise, Rainbow Six Tactics.
Developed by Ubisoft Paris, Rainbow Six Tactics is a turn-based tactical game set in the Rainbow Six universe. Players will take command of a Rainbow Unit of up to 4 operators. As commander Six, you will lead elite units into high-stake assignments.
The game definitely has XCOM feels to it which I personally am a big fan of. Tom Clancy games at their core were always more tactical than most other military games. This will be the first turn-based game in the Tom Clancy universe and second strategy type game since Tom Clancy’s Endwar back in 2008.
As Six you will begin with your elite operators in the Rainbow’s HQ to prepare. You will access intelligence, assign operators, upgrade your base and make tactical decisions before heading out onto the field. Tactics will be on the same timeline as Rainbow Six Siege in terms of story content.

Much like Siege’ expansive roster, Tactics will feature 15 different operators to choose from. Each operator will have its own unique skill tree and abilities, making your roster construction just as important as your tactics. With missions ranging from hostage rescuing to bomb disposal, each and every operator will have their use.
While we don’t have any release date specifics at yet we do have platforms. Rainbow Six Tactics will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC via Steam, Epic and Ubisoft Connect. It will also be available on Ubisoft+, GeForce Now and Blacknut at launch.
