Among the blockbuster titles that featured at gamescom ONL, the showcase featured many smaller titles to give indie developers the opportunity to show their games to the world. Developers of Darksiders Genesis, Airship Syndicate have shared new footage of their isometric action-horror shooter, DUST: Origins.
Featuring a treacherous world that is of The Ascent ilk, where both humans and bio-engineered monsters are a threat, you must blast your way to safety with a seemingly wide array of weapons.
DUST: Origins takes place on doomed orbital prison platform, Limbo-6 on prison planet, Dross. Desperate to escape, the player will do everything in their power to depart Dross. The game features plenty of shooting but what’s equally exciting is the deep story which is impacted by player choice. In the game, anyone can live and anyone can die. You can choose to go it alone to escape, or work with NPCs to get off the planet with their aid. The game is also uniquely designed to encourage players to play NG+ with unlocks carrying over as you work to unlock alternative endings based on your actions.
DUST: Origins is ‘already in the advanced stages of development’ with the studio planning a PC (Steam & EGS) release in early 2027. The DUST: Origins Kickstarter is now live, allowing players to support the studio to realise the true vision for the game. A $25 pledge will secure a code for the full game, and backers will get access to two playtests later this year.
