Tails Of Iron II Celebrates Indie Icons With Free ‘Blood & Brine’ Expansion

Odd Bug Studios has revealed and dropped a free expansion for their side-scrolling action-adventure game Tails of Iron II: Whiskers of Winter called ‘Blood & Brine’, which adds a post-game questline and a bunch of extra content, as well as a series of armour sets celebrating various other indie games.

You can check out the Tails of Iron II: Blood & Brine Expansion trailer below.

The Blood & Brine expansion adds a new region to explore, with 11 quests to undertake, 10 bosses to overcome, a unique fishing mechanic, new original music, and the return of acclaimed voice actor Doug Cockle (the voice of Geralt of Rivia in the Witcher series) as the game’s narrator.

The new location, Hardshell Brook, is a coastal area where a new threat has emerged after peace returns to the Ratdom. After two sailors are shipwrecked, Arlo agrees to raise money and rebuild their vessel by building a curious attraction: an aquarium! Arlo will have to venture into steadily more dangerous waters, cast his line, and bring back whatever he catches to fill the aquarium, all while doubts about the sailors’ story grow.

Note: Players must complete the main Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter campaign before beginning this new expansion.

The expansion also adds 11 new armour sets to collect, with several inspired by other indie titles, including Cult of the Lamb, Death’s Door, Blasphemous, Moonlighter, and Dave the Diver. Arlo can dress up as many of gamers’ favourite indie protagonists, all reimagined in Tails of Iron’s signature hand-drawn art style.

“We really wanted to say a big thank you to our community by offering this story expansion completely free of charge,” said Oddbug Studio CEO Jack Bennett. “Additionally, we are thrilled to team up with so many talented developers with our new ‘Indie Heroes’ armour sets – who’d have thought the Penitent One, among other legends, would ever find their way to the Ratdom?! All sails ahead! Adventure awaits!”

To celebrate the launch of the Blood and Brine expansion, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter will be available for a limited time at 60% off across PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The Tails of Iron II: Whiskers of Winter ‘Blood & Brine’ expansion is out now on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, XBOX Series X/S & One, and Nintendo Switch.
