Now I’m not saying that the most recent episode of GSC’s Girl Pod was the final manifestation for this casting of Kratos. But I’m also not saying it’s not not the final manifestation.
Back in June, we learned that Ryan Hurst was injured on the set of the live action God of War series and unfortunately would need bicep surgery. Instead of delaying the production to 2027, Sony and Amazon have moved forward with recasting the part. On August 20th, it was announced that former WWE superstar and Marvel scene stealer Dave Bautista would officially be the new Kratos.

When the discussion of this possibility began to trickle out onto social media, fans were quick to comment. The responses were also primarily positive, a huge success by internet standards. In recent years, Bautista has shown not only his comedic timing, but his intimidating presence, and of course, his physicality. From Drax in Marvel’s Guardian’s of the Galaxy, to Leonard in Knock at the Cabin, and recently as James in The Wrecking Crew, Bautista proves he’s man enough for the role, no matter what.
Amazon Prime Video has already green-lit the God of War series for two seasons. These seasons are set film back to back and production is expected to resume shortly after news of this recasting. The show will follow two recent God of War games which will see Kratos alongside Atreus taking on the gods. The good news is that if the show will spoil you on the story, you still have plenty of time to play the games before the series airs.
How do you feel about Dave Bautista stepping into the role of Kratos? Is he the man for the job? If so, let us know what your favorite role of his has been so far. If not, tell us why he isn’t a good pick and who you would’ve cast instead. Let us know in the comments down below. Or if you want to chat in real time, be sure to join the Gamer Social Club discord.
