VARSAV Game Studios celebrated its 10th anniversary today with a new story trailer for its upcoming stealth action-platformer Barkour. They revealed that the game would have a simultaneous release on PC and consoles in Q4 2026.

Barkour is a single-player, fast-paced action-platformer with a stealth twist, where you play as one of the world’s greatest super spies, Agent T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Use your spy and parkour training to run across walls, sneak past guards, and utilise a variety of gadgets as you take on each mission on a globetrotting adventure.

While previous trailers for the game have gone into detail on various gameplay elements, the most recent one gives players a look into our paw-tagonist’s (sorry, had to get one in here) backstory and what their goal is: to take the nefarious Van Der Meow into custody. We get to see a young T.H.U.N.D.E.R. training to become a secret agent, potentially working as the game’s tutorial, and get a sense of the colourful and rather eccentric cast of characters we’ll meet on our mission.

In a press release for the game, the developers describe Barkour’s story as a mix of “humour, expressive character animation, visual comedy and absurd spy-movie situations with quieter and more emotional moments.” T.H.U.N.D.E.R.’s thoughts are translated into human language through a special gadget, and much of his character comes through his behaviour, facial expressions, and reactions, while staying true to being a good dog.

VARSAV Game Studios has been developing Barkour for the last four years, and while we don’t have a set date yet, it won’t be long before they complete their mission of releasing the game. For those who can’t wait to try it out before then, a demo is available now on PC via Steam and will be available to the public at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, next week.
