Jonathan Blow, the renowned creator of Braid and The Witness is back again to release his highly anticipated new game Order Of the Sinking Star. Today Blow alongside publisher Arc Games have revealed the release date for the next iconic puzzle adventure.
Order Of The Sinking Star is set to release October 8th. Yes yet another October release to add to the already crazy schedule. What sets Order Of The Sinking Star apart however is it is a puzzle adventure. So for those looking for something more challenging (Blow’s games are known for their challenge) this one will be the one to keep an eye on in September.
Genre Defining Experience
This will be Blow’s first game in 10 years since released back in 2016. While that is a very lengthy time between releases Blow and his studio, Thekla, Inc. have been working hard this entire time to create a genre defining experience.
To put the vastness of the game into perspective, Order Of The Sinking Star is said to feature over 1000 challenges and featured hundreds, yes plural, of hours of gameplay. With its open world, players will be able to go at whatever pace they’d like when it comes to the challenge of the puzzles as they work through the games arcing story.

Blow goes on to highlight some of those creators, which showcase just how much expertise is behind Order Of The Sinking Star.
“Order of the Sinking Star showcases design contributions from Alan Hazelden (Skipping Stones to Lonely Holmes, Mirror Isles), Sean Barrett (Promesst), Jonah Ostroff (Heroes of Sokoban), Zach Polansky (Enigmash), Patrick Traynor (Patrick’s Parabox), Marc ten Bosch (Miegakure), and several others — including design contributions from Twitch followers over the years.”

Order of the Sinking Star launches on PC, Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 on September 22. Unfortunately at this there is no mention of an Xbox Series S/X version.
