While not a major breakout upon its release in May 2024, Sunset Visitor and Fellow Traveler’s 1000xRESIST has gone on to become a modern cult classic. While the game arrived on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S last year, Nintendo Switch owners have only had access to an admittedly compromised port that, while a commendable effort, has a fair number of technical issues compared to the other console and PC versions.

It’s a pleasant surprise then that today the teams announced that 1000xRESIST will be receiving a native Nintendo Switch 2 port later this week. This version will take the game’s visuals to 4K in TV mode and 1080p in handheld mode, although the frame-rate will remain capped at 30 frames-per-second.

Best of all, 1000xRESIST’s Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will offer a free upgrade for owners of the Nintendo Switch version, meaning that those that may have been put off by the original versions’ performance will have the option to play the Switch 2 version for free and transfer their save file. The Switch 2 version will release on August 20th with a 40% introductory discount, and FanGamer has teased that a physical release will soon be announced.

1000xRESIST is a Peabody award winning science-fiction narrative adventure game following a group of clones living in a post-apocalyptic society where they hide from virus-spreading entities known as Occupants. The game was the debut project by four-person Canadian developer Sunset Visitor.

Earlier this year Sunset Visitor announced its next title, Prove You’re Human. The game tasks players as the custodian of an artificial intelligence that is becoming sentient. The player must complete a series of challenges to convince the AI that it is not, in fact, human.

1000xRESIST will release on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 20th. The game is available now for PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
