I still find myself wrestling with the reality that we’re getting an Elden Ring film. Regardless, it was noted that filming concluded on this title from A24 Films and will now enter into the post-production phase.

The Elden Ring film, directed by Alex Garland (known for his previous titles such as Annihilation and Civil War), is (as of today) slated for a March 2028 release date. So…no time in the very near future, to the dismay of Elden Ring fans (myself included).

More Background on the Upcoming Title

To say that there has been little announced around this upcoming film would be an understatement. Outside of some leaked pictures of sets and announcements of those who are slated to appear in the film, we have very little to go on when it comes to what will actually be covered in the film.

What I find amazing is how…quickly…this whole projected progressed. It all started with an interview by The Guardian with Hidetaka Miyazaki in 2024, during which Miyazaki noted:

“I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie for example.”

A seemingly innocent thought expressed by the creative mind behind Elden Ring. But who knew (and maybe he did) that this would snowball into an actual film adaptation, with an announcement less than a year later that A24 would be helming this project.

Will it be occurring before the Fracture and focusing the lore of the world itself? Will we see more of the likes of individuals like General Radahn and Miquella? I only have to ask these questions, given the very…branching nature that Elden Ring can take, given the player’s choices throughout the game. The Frenzied Flame fans get where I am going with this!
