Case Solved: The London Files is a new point-and-click logic puzzle game from developers Minimol Games and published by SpecNext Ltd. Based on Einstein’s Riddle, more commonly known as Zebra Puzzles to puzzle enthusiasts, it’s a pure logic based game where you’re tasked with solving multiple cases scattered throughout – you guessed it – London.
Are You Ready to Have Your Brain Teased?
I remember being in primary school and having the teachers ask those wild math questions. Sally is waiting for the train at 10 am. If the train has four carriages and travels at 40 kilometers per hour, and Peter is wearing a red shirt, how many oranges does Jim have in his backpack?

Case Solved: The London Files is a cozy point-and-click logic puzzle game with a detective twist.
There is no investigation or exploration, no interrogation systems or sprawling branching dialogue. It’s all about logic.
Even Murder Can Be Cozy
Set in a cozy noir London, Case Solved: The London Files places you as the lead detective on several murder cases. Each case has its own theme, setting, and unique characters, but don’t get too friendly. One of them is a killer. All backed with a smooth jazz soundtrack.
The story is made up of 15 different scenes that have a word puzzle attached and took me 3.5ish hours to complete. I’m sure you are smarter than me, so you could get through it quicker.
The loop is simple. Talk to each of the characters to have them reveal a clue. You must then locate it, which will be added as a clue to your deduction board. Once you have all the clues, it’s time to solve the clue, which might look something like this. (Spoilers for the game below)
– Whoever carried the rose arrived first.
– Kessler arrived before Thewlis.
– At least one of these statements is true: Kessler wore the Mask; Kessler wore the Wig
– Bramwell was not the Third to arrive
– Bramwell wore the Cape
– Whoever carried the Watch was in the Wings
– Kessler arrived before Barmwell
Whoever wore the Mask was in the Foyer
– Drake was in the Box
– Kessler carried the Libretto
– Kessler was in the Stalls.
Now you have all the information you need to solve the case. You must use deduction and ruling out to fill in the blanks. Who was where, wearing what, holding what, and what time did they arrive?
Shall we try, together?
First lets fill out what we know.
– Kessler was in the Stalls and carried the Libretto.
– Drake was in the Box.
– Bramwell wore the Cape
Now we can rule the others out.
Whoever wore the mask was in the Foyer. We know that Drake was in the Box and Kessler was in the Stalls, so it couldn’t be them. Bramwell is wearing the Cape, so that only leaves Thewlis.
– Thewlis wore the Mask and was in the Foyer.
Which means
– Bramwell was in the Wings.
Whoever was in the Wings wore the Watch.
– Bramwell wore the Watch
Thewlis is wearing the Mask, so Kessler has to be wearing the Wig, leaving Drake to wear the Veil
– Kessler wore the Wig
– Drake wore the Veil
Kessler arrived before Bramwell and Thewlis, but Bramwell did not arrive Third. Meaning he had to arrive 1st, 2nd, or 4th. Whoever carried the Rose arrived 1st, so that must be either Thewlis or Drake.
Bramwell has to be 4th, Kessler arrived before Thewlis, so Drake has to be First. Meaning he has the Rose.
Easy! All of the puzzles continue this way until you deduce and fill in all of the information. Depending on the difficulty, the deductions will be pretty straightforward, or very a long complicated logic chain to rule out one thing in one person.
Secret Cases
Once you have finished the story, there are 42 secret cases that can only be unlocked by finding codes throughout the game and Minimol Games social media posts. I’ll give you the first one for free. NEXTFEST. I managed to find Nine, and the cases attached to them vary from easy to very hard. I managed to complete some of the very hard ones, and I’m not really that smart so good luck.
Performance
I played Case Solved: The London Files on PC via Steam and it ran flawlessly. Granted, there is not a lot going on, but it’s nice to not have any crashes. I did notice that one of the cases had some of the clues wrong, which meant that I had to randomly plug in answers until I got it right. The Steam version also has full controller support.
Verdict
Case Solved: London Files really got my brain moving. It’s nice to not have time limits or pressure of decisions. Just a relaxing set of puzzles to work your way through. The smooth jazz and 2D hand-drawn art were the icing on the top of the cake.
If you are looking for an action-packed noir detective story, you won’t get it. If you’re looking for a short puzzle game for a rainy Sunday afternoon, the Case Solved: London Files will pair perfectly with that cup of tea.
