With controversy still stirring around Sony’s recent decision to discontinue PlayStation physical disc production in January 2028, any announcement of an upcoming physical release is welcome as fans prepare for what could be the final year of physical collecting on the platform. Adventure game fans may be happy to learn then that Red Art Games will be releasing a physical version of Revolution Software’s Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged in February 2027.

Broken Sword II: The Smoking Mirror is the second entry in the globe-trotting adventure game series that originally debuted in 1997. The game picks up six months after its predecessor and follows returning protagonists George Stobbart and Nicole Collard as they solve an ancient Mayan mystery. A remaster was previously released in 2010, however Reforged will feature fully redrawn animation in 4K, quality of life features, and more.

Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged Physical Edition Details

Much like with Broken Sword – Shadows of the Templars: Reforged, Revolution Software is teaming up with Red Art Games for the physical release of The Smoking Mirror on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. A standard edition will release on February 19, 2027, and will feature the game in ESRB and PEGI regions alongside an instruction manual.

As a note, only PEGI-rated copies of the Xbox Series version will be available. Physical editions in ESRB and PEGI regions will be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.

A very limited deluxe edition will also release that includes a copy of the game in a cover sleeve resembling the original artwork, a Pixel Nico keychain, a soundtrack CD, and an instruction manual. Only 500 PEGI rated copies of this edition will be available. The deluxe edition is only available for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
