The fully fledged remaster of one of the greatest Western RPGs of all time, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is making its way to Switch 2 this summer.
The game was confirmed to be making its way to Switch 2 in the February Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, now we have a date and its not very long to wait. Oblivion Remastered arrives on Switch 2 August 11, 2026.
It’s an excellent remaster of a game for players of the original, or players new to the game. In our review we said: “Many of us old heads consider Oblivion to be one of the best entries released, and now that you can play a modernized version, you really have nothing to lose.”.
The remaster includes both original DLC packs – Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. Other content included in the remaster includes character armour and weapons, as well as, you guessed it – horse armour. If you were gaming in the XBOX 360 era, you will recall the uproar at Bethesda’s introduction of horse armour as a microtransaction which cast a shadow over one of the greatest games of that generation.

Oblivion Remastered Switch 2 Physical
It’s good news for Switch 2 physical collectors as the game will see a physical release, with the game being ‘on cart’ and not a Game-Key Card.
This will not be at the upper end of Switch 2 software price points. The game will retail in the United States for $49.99 USD, in Canada VGP are listing the game as $79.99 CAD. Other regional pricing applies, in the UK Amazon list a price of £59.99.
Oblivion Remastered follows other Bethesda titles that have been making their way to the platform over the last year including the sublime Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Fallout 4 and Oblivion’s successor, the timeless Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
If you’re not a Switch 2 player, the game is currently available on XBOX Series X|S, PC and PlayStation 5. The remaster is also available in XBOX Game Pass for console and PC.
