The Future Game Show Summer Showcase 2026 was one of the largest showcases in the last week, with over 60 announcements packed into a 2-hour runtime. One trailer that caught our attention was for Prison of Husks, a retro-inspired third-person Souls-like, already announced for PC, that revealed the game would be coming to PlayStation 5 as well.
Don’t miss any of the announcements from the many showcases at Summer Game Fest 2026!

Developed and self-published by London-based indie studio, Glass Doll Heads, Prison of Husks is a nostalgic-feeling Souls-like set in a painted afterlife where you awaken as a doll in pursuit of your beloved.
“Your soul has found its new vessel in the Lithos Plateau, a heavenly afterlife painted by the hand of a pure heart. Yet, all that is left is a desolate landscape that is crumbling beneath your feet.
What put its painter to rest? Where is your love? She depends on you. Seek your beloved.“
Traverse a densely designed world of shortcuts and secrets, across a desolate landscape that is crumbling away before your very eyes. Build out your arsenal of weapons, from swords to pistols, and go on the offensive to build up your damage as you parry oncoming attacks to regain stamina.
Find and equip rings and brooches to enhance and optimise your play style, and face off against pigment-hoarding bosses that still inhabit this dying land, from mounted knights to haunting phantoms. Alongside your own quest to find your love, you’ll encounter others who may choose to help with their own lovelorn situations, but don’t forget your goal, or you’ll lose yourself in the grey wastes.

Looking at Prison of Husks’ retro-inspired visuals, harkening back to the PS1/PS2 era, we’re reminded of games like Vagrant Story, ICO, and FromSoft’s first step to shaping the Souls-like genre, Demon’s Souls. Starting as a portfolio project back in 2023, it’s amazing to think that it will be out this year, and we can’t wait to play it.
Prison of Husks is coming to PC and PlayStation 5 in 2026, and a demo is available now on PC via Steam.
