Unfortunately leaks happen sometimes, especially around this time of year. That makes this announcement a little less impactful after this news leaked but nonetheless we have an official release date for Minecraft Dungeons 2.
Officially announced today during the Xbox Game Showcase, Minecraft Dungeons 2 is set to release on September 29th. Yes yet another major September release. And not that there was any doubt, Minecraft Dungeons 2 will launch simultaneously on Xbox Series S/X, PlayStation 5, Steam and Nintendo Switch 2.
The original Minecraft Dungeons felt a bit like a prototype. Mojang and Xbox were looking for ways to push out more Minecraft, you’d think Minecraft 2 would be a license to print money. Instead we got Dungeons which ended up being a hugely popular, 25 million players and counting, and quite a good dungeon crawler game. After years of support we are now a few months away from its sequel and it is looking bigger and bolder.

First announced back in March, Minecraft Dungeons 2 will be another great addition to Xbox’s 25th anniversary plans. Minecraft has become one of the biggest IP’s in the world of gaming and in Xbox’s portfolio so it makes sense to get something Minecraft this year.
Players who pre-order Minecraft Dungeons 2 will get a couple in game skins, a twisted cape and a twisted chicken pet.
