Visual novels are a fantastic story telling medium. While interaction fiction may not be for everyone, I am a huge fan of stories that stay with you. When Every Wednesday appeared on at the Women-Led Games showcase, I was instantly drawn in. The pixel art still gave way to beautiful scenery and characters that popped off the screen.

Who knew that the idea of being at a laundromat would feel so enticing?

In Every Wednesday you’ll play as Hideki who arrives on a Wednesday to do his laundry and finds himself learning more about those around him each week. The regulars of Yamada Laundry share their dreams, doubts, and secrets over the course of 14 weekly visits. Perhaps that is what happens when we put down the cell phones and connect with those around us.

In the trailer we see Hideki seemingly get close to an artist who draws the regulars of the laundromat. Then we also see him become a guardian according to a young child. All of these characters seem ready to charm their way into his heart. One character who may not need to charm their way in? The orange cat who appears in a good amount of the trailer. That’s an instant wishlist for me.

When it comes to Every Wednesday, it appears small choices in the conversation can unveil deep meanings to those around you. There are also minigames such as mixing laundry scents, helping your neighbors with tasks, and other every day moments that perhaps we take for granted. The real question is, can we also pet the cat?

Every Wednesday is developed by Pixel Chest Storyworks and published by IndieArk and is scheduled to release February 2027 on Steam.
