Extended Gameplay Reveal for Exodus Shown at FGS Summer Showcase 2026

Mass Effect Lives On: It Keeps Getting Better?

Thanks to the Future Games Show Summer Showcase 2026, we got another look at Exodus. It’s a long one, so grab your popcorn and prep your hype levels. It’s about to get bumpy.

Exodus is a sci-fi action-adventure RPG where you become the Traveler—leading humanity’s fight for survival against the Celestials. Face our evolution 40,000 years in the future, explore extraordinary worlds, and confront time itself to shape the fate of generations.

  • Encounter the evolved descendants of humanity known as the Celestials, their bioengineered Changelings, and highly intelligent Awakened animals.
  • Lead a formidable crew across the stars —human and Awakened—driven by their own convictions and deadly in the fight ahead.

The Mass Effect Trilogy is often considered by many millennials to be one of the defining experiences of the Xbox 360 era, alongside other titans of that time like Halo and Gears of War. Yet, like these other elders of gaming, Mass Effect more or less disappeared off the face of the gaming landscape. The last entry in the series, Andromeda, was plagued by bugs and visual issues and currently sits at 71 on Metacritic, well below its predecessors.

To many of us, longtime fans, we assumed that would be the final nail in the coffin for what was once one of the flagship titles on the Xbox 360. And honestly, that distinction isn’t too far off. As of the writing of this article, the next Mass Effect is in pre-production with no definite release date anywhere on the horizon, and the hype around the series has all but dwindled to a historic low. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel for fans of the original games. EXODUS is helmed by the same developers who made Mass Effect 1 & 2 so great, and it looks worthy of the crown that Mass Effect has left empty for nearly a decade now.

Exodus is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and XBOX Series X/S in 2027.
