Those who know me already know that I love a good roguelike game. Toss a captivating story behind it and I’m in. So when Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar revealed their gameplay at Future Games Show Summer Showcase, it was worth looking into.
The team at Justdan is bringing us to a mythical world where gods, demons, and powers are all waiting for us. What we do know from the Steam page is that so far is that there are some grudges that don’t die easily. Once upon a time the Abyssal Dragon served under Emperor Yan. For reasons unknown he ends up losing his name and dying in battle. But sometimes what should stay dead doesn’t always do so. A sliver of his soul survived and has found itself in the body of Yi and is walking the mortal earth ready to to take on his unfinished business.
Dinghai boasts a dual weapon combat system and the trailer shows us some fast movements and potentially devastating combinations. You can unlock new abilities and move deeper in a world where death is never the true ending. Players will keep the fight going through multiple runs to uncover a truth waiting centuries to see the light of day.
For the AI conscious, the Steam page and team have been transparent. The Steam page states, “Generative AI were used only to assist with localization and translation. All localized text is reviewed and edited by the development team. No art, audio, or code used AI generation.”
