Capcom’s smash hit brawler Street Fighter 6 revealed its line up for Year 4 at Summer Game Fest. This is definitely not what many people had been expecting.
After a successful season 3 which saw returning characters Sagat, Crimson Viper, Alex and making her official debut in the SF canon, Ingrid, Capcom looks to be going a very different direction this time. None of the characters are anyone returning from older games.
Capcom has instead decided to go with 2 new characters this time, Yasmine and Arjun. We also see Bosch who was a prominent character in the games world tour mode join the line up. To round Year 4 we have a guest character, Tifa Lockhart from Final Fantasy VII.
This is a surprising direction from Capcom as many people expected either Vega or Balrog to return given that one of the 4 kings had been the first in the dlc line ups for the past two years. While there were rumors for Tifa for awhile now, the decision to put Bosch in this late was unexpected as many thought he’d be in earlier given how his story went.
Regardless, it was time for Street Fighter 6 to get some fresh faces. The last time the game saw a newcomer was A.K.I. in the first DLC line up 3 years ago. It’ll also be interesting see if the new characters will come with new changes to the overall gameplay of 6 as some fans have speculated if Capcom will do a super street fighter type update like they’ve done with past games.
Street Fighter 6 Season 4 will kick off with Yasmine on August 3rd, 2026. Following her will be Ajurn in the fall, followed by Tifa in early 2027 then Bosch in spring of 2027. Street Fighter 6 is available now for all major platforms. A trailer for season 4 can be viewed here.
