Indie studio Fantastic Humans has announced that Love is a Demon will launch on Steam on July 17th, 2026. The supernatural narrative adventure will also have a playable demo available when Steam Next Fest kicks off on June 15th.
The game follows Ash, an introverted dreamer who works up the courage to confess their feelings to best friend Ivy. A supernatural event derails everything, sending Ash on a chaotic journey through romance, demons, and difficult choices. Players navigate the fallout alongside an eccentric cast of characters, including potential love interests Ivy and Luna.
Choices carry real weight throughout. Branching conversations and interactive sequences shape Ash’s relationships and lead to multiple endings. Players can also choose between three different appearances for Ash at the start.
Love is a Demon is largely a solo project by Aleksandra Jarosz. Jarosz is a game designer, psychologist, and Fine Arts Ph.D. recipient who also contributed to Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. Love is a Demon is born from one question, according to the Team at Fantastic Humans, “How do we deal with love, rejection, and finding ourselves in the middle of all that emotional mess?”

“Creating the game became a journey of self-development for me, and I hope players will find something of their own in this funny, melancholic, and supernatural adventure,” Jarosz says.
Fantastic Humans is a small Austrian indie collective known for unconventional projects. The studio previously released Fantastic Fetus and Fantastic Annihilation, and currently has both Love is a Demon and Occult Office: Lofi Rituals in development.
The demo goes live on Steam when Next Fest begins June 15th. The full game follows on July 17th. Wishlists are now open on Steam. Will you help Ash navigate romance in this upcoming release? Let us know in the comments down below.
