Rayman Legends Retold Arrives This October

It’s been almost 13 years since we last saw Ubisoft’s limbless hero Rayman in his own adventure, but today as part of Sony’s State of Play showcase, Ubisoft has announced that it is remaking Rayman Legends as Rayman Legends: Retold. The game will release this October.

Ubisoft announced that the team is rebuilding Rayman Legends from the ground up rather than a remaster. Retold features completely reworked visuals, trading the original game’s 2D animation for a fully 3D look, while retaining some of the original’s side-scrolling gameplay.

Retold will also feature a new soundtrack as well as an updated story, with new twists. The game will be playable entirely solo, or in co-operative play. The official blurb says gamers will be able to “Play the adventure solo or in up to four?player couch co?op, jam through all?new musical stages, saddle up for epic dragon rides, and more!“.

Rayman Legends was announced in 2012 as a Wii U exclusive before ultimately also launching on PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Vita in September 2013. Since then the game has been re-released on modern platforms including Nintendo Switch, but remains the most recent title in the series, with much of the team at Ubisoft Montpelier splitting to work on other titles such as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown and the long delayed Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Rayman Legends Retold will release for PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S on October 1.
