Feather’s Edge was recently revealed at the Six One Indie Showcase, showing off a gorgeous looking ‘kinetic metroidvania.

Feather’s Edge is an upcoming metroidvania by developers Clockwork Acorn, and published by Outersloth. You play as an anthropomorphic hoopoe bird warrior named Upu. Your quest is to save the Tower of Time from collapsing. The game sees you exploring an ‘interconnected handcrafted world’.

The gameplay is centred around fast-paced, quick thinking, kinetic action. You will dash and slash through enemies to enter a combat flow-state.

Kinetic Metroidvania

Feather’s Edge promises “tough-as-talons bite-sized battles” where the gameplay is easy to pick up, but will take hours of practice and finesse to master. Each new area provides an opportunity for quick-thinking and precise execution to master the time-rifts.

You will aim, jump, and slice through enemies in one motion. It seems that lining up the perfect combo between attacking and navigating the mini-battle arenas will be key to your success. You will be able to unlock new abilities to improve your flexibility in combat and perfect your fighting style.

The game looks amazing, and sports colourful hand-drawn environments with ‘fluid animations’ to bring the world to life.

What do you think of Feather’s Edge? It looks pretty damn ace. Much like Gunboat God, I can see myself getting obsessed with getting the perfect run through those mini-battles and becoming the master of the time-rifts. I immediately got flashes of Symphonia too (highly recommend that one).

Will be keeping my eye on it.
