Kusan: City of Wolves is a Neon-Drenched Hotline Miami-Like Out in July

Fans of Hotline Miami will be pleased to hear that something new is on the summer menu. Developer, CIRCLEfromDOT have announced that their top-down ‘neo-noir atmosphere’ action title, Kusan: City of Wolves will release in late-July.

Featuring 54 stages which take place across multiple chapters there will be a variety of environments for players to tear through enemies using a broad arsenal of weapons. Much like Hotline Miami, this is a hardcore title where one mistake will mean your instant death. You will need to master your movement, plan your tactics and limited munition, whilst understanding enemy movements to ensure your survival – and their demise.

Kusan’s narrative is told via graphic-novels. Playing as Jin, a former solider turned mercenary “living in the heart of a city where the line between predator and prey has already been crossed”. There’s a ‘mysterious’ girl who is part of the story that Jin must save, whilst confronting a commander he once served.

There will be plenty of replayability, with extra challenges to work towards and S-ranks for only the deadliest of wolves. Boasting a cyberpunk pixel art style that pops with vibrant colours, gunfire and blood, this Kusan is shaping up to be a very good-looking game.

What’s the most exciting aspect of the game though, is how the art-style will be “intensified by Korean hip-hop heavyweight Loptimist’s adrenaline-fueled soundtrack drenched with head-bopping loops and deep 808s pushing you forward without mercy”. There is something about killing to a beat which hits different. Look no further than Dead as Disco which we reviewed in its early access release recently.

Kusan: City of Wolves launches on July 31, 2026 on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Steam. There is a demo available now on all platforms except for Nintendo Switch.

Fans of the genre may also want to watch out for ‘Peaky Blinders Hotline Miami’, Cohen 1939 which we got hands-on time with during London Games Festival. That’s shaping up to be a promising addition to the genre.
