Following multiple delays to the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI, and with very little new information in months, many have wondered whether Rockstar Games will meet the current release date of November 19, 2026. That’s only 185 days away. Now, Rockstar parent company, Take-Two’s CEO has reconfirmed the date.
Strauss has never ducked the question of the release date, continuing to reiterate the intention to release the game on November 19. He has now once again doubled down on the date in a new YouTube interview with David Senra.
In the lengthy interview, Senra says to Zelnick: “The timeline’s slipping, because you’re sitting on the most valuable media property in the world. And everybody online is just like “When’s GTA VI coming out?”. Like, how do you deal with this? How do you deal with the timelines? It’s just like, the answer to that question is I don’t know?”. In a blunt, firm reply Zelnick says “Well, no no. November 19th, I do know”. A categoric response which reaffirms the release date that featured in February’s Take-Two earnings call.
Acknowledging that the game has been pushed back twice, Zelnick adds “I think we’re about 18 months behind the original date. Not much more than that.”.
Senra also probes around the value of the IP and its revenue capabilities, particularly around GTA V’s total revenue. In reply, Zelnick says that Take-Two do “Not [disclose] the total revenue. It’s a lot” – with a smile.

In the last few weeks, Strauss Zelnick has been captured making several comments about the approach to launch for the juggernaut release. First of all, speaking at the iicon conference, Zelnick suggested that GTA VI’s price wouldn’t be above the industry norm – following many online speculating it would be the first $100 video game release.
Shortly after, Zelnick was also captured talking about the game’s PlayStation marketing deal – which is yet to formally begin. He also spoke about the games budget, though stopping short of giving a figure, he said Take-Two try to afford their development teams “unlimited financial, creative human resources and they then aim to deliver perfection.”.
Six months from tomorrow, we could finally be in Vice City. Until then, I’ll be ticking off the days.
