One of the biggest games of the first half of 2026 is almost upon us. The highly anticipated 007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026 and the studio behind the title, IO Interactive have confirmed the game has gone gold.
If you’re unaware, ‘going gold’ means that the development on a game has completed and it is a launch-ready state. Though, more recently it has tended to mean the game will be launching in a more polished state, without the need for a significant day one patch. Two weeks before launch is a statement from IO. A highly regarded studio from their work on the modern Hitman trilogy, gamers were delighted they were given the opportunity to adapt Britain’s most iconic fictional spy to a modern game.
There’s a lot to be excited for in 007 First Light and we recently published a 007: First Light – Everything We Know So Far piece – this is not simply a Bond Hitman as many initially expected. A roughly 20-hour campaign will see Bond embark on an adventure of espionage and action, as well as driving sections in an Aston Martin, of course.
Like big screen Bond releases, 007 First Light has its own intro movie and original theme tune, sung by the haunting voice of Lana Del Ray. A stellar cast joins the game too including Patrick Gibson as Bond, Gemma Chan and Alistair McKenzie. Lenny Kravitz also features as Bawna, a suave black market dealer.
If you’re yet to pre-order 007 First Light, there’s an array of fun in-game items including outfits for Bond and gold-plated gadget skins:

Recently, IO Interactive also confirmed the final PC system requirements which you can see here.
007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC. A Switch 2 version is confirmed but was delayed to a TBC date later this year.
