Frogwares has pulled back the slimy, wormy, fleshy curtains and given us a glimpse into some of the horrors we are going to be facing in a brand-new gameplay trailer for The Sinking City 2.
Set to be released in Summer 2026, The Sinking City 2 takes place in a Lovecraftian version of 1920’s America after a supernatural flood has driven out the residents of Arkham. Leaving decay and eldritch horrors to roam the streets.
We get a closer look at our protagonist, Calvin Rafferty. An occult adventurer whose obsession and arrogance have led to catastrophic consequences. After a botched “dreaming ritual”, Calvin’s girlfriend Faye is left trapped in a mysterious sleep.

Unlike the detective-focused structure of the original Sinking City, the sequel appears to have a far more combat-heavy, survival horror approach. Frogware seems to have fully embraced the “horror first” direction, game director Alexander Gresko mentioned previously.
With an arsenal of 1920s-inspired weapons, Calvin must fight through horrifying abominations wielding revolvers, shotguns, and Tommy guns, while exploring the decaying city of Arkham, to find a cure for Faye.

Arkham itself looks incredible. Full of deserted mansions overtaken by decay, flooded markets littered with debris, and a creepy old hospital that seems to hold some secrets we probably don’t want to know the answers to.

Narratively, The Sinking City 2 promises a morally grey story, focusing on grief, obsession, and forbidden knowledge. The trailer hints that not every enemy will be a monster, and not every monster will be an enemy.

The Sinking City 2 is shaping up to be a darker, action-focused evolution of the original. One that fully commits to cosmic horror while telling a story of personal tragedy and human desperation and feels like it’s straight out of the mind of H.P himelf.
