Developers Doinksoft have confirmed that the fantasy-themed action platformer’s release is coming soon!
Published by Devolver Digital, Dark Scrolls combines shoot ’em up style chaos, roguelite progression and that ever present scrolling screen of doom. Pick one of a number of “quirky heroes” and set out on a quest in either solo or co-op. You’ll be hacking, slashing, shooting and dodging through waves of enemies and traps. Each of the heroes has unique abilities and attacks to give you the edge in battle.
The levels are procedurally generated, drawn from “hand-crafted rooms”, giving you a new experience every time you play. You’ll have to have quick wits, and reflexes to dodge and take down the onslaught of enemies and bosses. Not to mention the environmental threats and the scrolling screen.
It’s been confirmed that Dark Scrolls releases on 28 May 2026 for PC and Nintendo Switch. The release date was confirmed in a brand new trailer featuring a bit of a playthrough.
The action looks like it can get quite hectic. A couple of our writers tried out Dark Scrolls at New Game Plus event in London and seemed to have a great time with it. I’m sure they’ll be excited to see the game has a release date. And not far away at all
