Fresh from it’s recent BAFTA Game Awards win, it’s been confirmed that an Atomfall TV show is on the way. Cracking news that.
Developer of the 2025 first-person survival action-adventure, Rebellion, confirmed the news earlier today. They announced that they will be working with Two Brothers Pictures to bring game to the small screen. Two Brothers Pictures is known for its work as the producer of The Assassin and Fleabag.
Inspired by the real-life disaster at the Windscale nuclear plant in the late 1950s, in the north of England, Atomfall was a critical and commercial success. It recently won a BAFTA Game Award for ‘Best British Game’ and over 3.7 million players have played the game since it’s March 2025 launch. We had a lot of praise for the game when it released. You can check out our review to see why it is so popular.
Up and Atom!
Atomfall was developed by Jason Kingsley, one of the co-founders of Rebellion with his brother Chris Kingsley. The title sees you exploring the militarised Quarantine Zone in the Lake District of England. You’re soon meeting key contacts, gathering resources, and fighting with strangely blue glowing creatures as you try to uncover the mystery of Wyndham.
The TV show will be written by the Two Brothers Picture’s founders, Harry and Jack Williams. Alex Mercer (Two Brothers Pictures) will be exexcutive producer, and has worked on Doctor Who, alongside Ben Smith (Rebellion) who has worked on Rogue Trooper.
“Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it’s been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team – especially as two brothers working alongside two brothers (Jason and Chris Kingsley),” they said. “There’s something very exciting about expanding this strange, unsettling story for television.”
The Kingsley brothers at Rebellion commented:
“Harry and Jack demonstrated a clear love for Atomfall and talked about their own particular endings when they were playing the game. It is always exciting to work with people who share the same passion for creating and telling great stories and we are sure that this partnership will help to deliver a television series that will delight fans of the game and beyond.”
No release schedule or production timeline has been revealed at this time.
As a huge Atomfall fan, I am very excited for this news. I really hope they keep the British tone and humour in it, and hey, if they’re looking for any local northern extras, I’ll happily get involved!
