Among the many exciting announcements at the ID@Xbox Spring Showcase 2026, we saw the official announcement trailer for Vapor World: Over the Mind, a 2D Souls-like platformer releasing onto PC & consoles in June of this year.

Developed by ALIVE Inc. and co-published alongside Boltray Games, Vapor World is a challenging, narrative-driven Souls-like platformer, with the devs citing FromSoft’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice as their inspiration for their deflection-focused combat.
“Before a boy caught in a dark past, an endless nightmare of shattered minds unfolds. The door back to reality stands sealed, blocking his path. Lindsey, veiled keeper of dreams, says the door will open only when he gathers the dreams of those swallowed by trauma. Across the unfolding nightmare, the journey back to reality begins. Face the dark, beautiful world born of sorrow and regret, and recall your lost memories.”
In a desperate attempt to save mankind, the secretive project Vapor World was created: a machine that let humans venture into the world of dreams, built from their very own thoughts. You play as a mysterious young boy lost in this surreal place with no memory of who you are or how you ended up trapped here.
You must explore and fight your way across the world of dreams, defeating enemies and dealing with ever more challenging bosses called Traumas. Learn new abilities called Projections from rare items and enemies and use them against your adversaries to parry or even blind them, turning the tide of battle. You can even utilise parts of the environments for stealthier options, sneaking up on enemies to gain an advantage.

With clear nods to other popular and successful Souls-likes like Lies of P, Vapor World: Over the Mind looks to have the atmosphere and world/character design nailed down. We’ll just have to wait and see if it feels as good as it looks.
Vapor World: Over the Mind is scheduled to release into Early Access sometime in 2026 across PC & consoles. A demo for the game is set to release in June, 2026.
