Among the announcements at the ID@Xbox Spring Showcase 2026, we saw the announcement of Kalanoro, a colourful action-adventure game that blends platforming, combat, and music-driven storytelling, set to release this Summer across PC & consoles.

You play as Kalakely, the unwilling and hairy hero of a questionable prophecy, on their adventure across the lands of Lemuria to recruit legendary musicians, build a band, and stop the tyrannical reign of the evil witch Raneny. Gameplay features a mix of platforming, combat, and band building, as you road trip through diverse biomes full of hand-crafted levels.
Use Kalakely’s mystical powers and a few choice household objects to battle throngs of enemies and epic bosses, and unlock more abilities as you progress to refine your playstyle. Along the way, you’ll meet a diverse cast of quirky lemur musicians to build your band with, and they travel with you in your bush taxi. Build your relationships with your bandmates through mnigames, managing their happiness, and get ready for your next performance.
Developed by the Malaysia-based Red Raketa Studio and published by New Tales, Kalanoro is, at its heart, a vibrant tribute to Malagasy folklore, music, and artistic culture. From its colourful hand-drawn visuals to its soundtrack featuring Malagasy artists like Denise, Jyeuhair, and Marco Klarck, Kalanoro is looking and sounding like a fun and chaotic feel-good rebellion on the road.
Kalanoro is slated to release this Summer across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. A demo is available now on PC via Steam.
