The battle-royale space is certainly a crowded one. With many big BR franchises including Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite, Fall Guys and many more, it would be forgivable to roll your eyes at yet another new BR game. However, you may have missed many unique takes on the genre such as Nintendo Switch Online’s Tetris 99 and F-Zero 99.
Late last year, indie developer Funktronic Labs revealed their own upcoming entry to the BR space and it’s a really promising premise. Scramble Nights is a Legend of Zelda Link’s Awakening inspired last man standing, with the art style and gameplay from the Switch remake very heavily borrowed from. Jumping off a boat onto a remote archipelago, players need to scramble to find powerful weapons and items to be the lone survivor in an ever shrinking playspace.
At the Galaxies Spring Showcase – which you can catch-up on all the trailers for here – the developers released a new trailer to celebrate their Steam beta launch.
The new footage continues to make the game look a really fun time. Players will compete against 31 other knights in solo play, or can team up in 16 teams of duos, meaning teamwork and loot sharing will be essential to achieve a round win. Scramble Knights also features couch co-op.
The latest trailer shows a vendor who sells a variety of weapons to buy using coins you’ve found, allowing you to tailor your play style depending on your chosen tool. Zelda-like bombs also feature heavily, with a short a fuse they can be volleyed across gaps towards other players to explode them off ledges.
We also get a new look at the games lobby world, the Town Square. Here, players can chill with friends or meet other potential team mates. Oh, and you can even go fishing.
Scramble Knights Royale will fully launch later in 2026 on Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox PC. Players can wishlist on both platforms now.
