Directive 8020 Shares Everything You Need to Know

It appears The Curator is back with another story from the Dark Pictures collection. As someone who has only recently gotten into the The Dark Pictures Anthology, these games have sparked an interest in co-op horror-esque games. While Supermassive has moved away from branding this as Season 2 of The Dark Pictures Anthology in the title, the trailer displayed at the Spring 2026 Galaxies showcase continues to confirm this is part of the series. Instead, it is a Dark Pictures Game, but while the title changed, it seems we may still see a familiar face.

It appears The Curator has already opened up a new book for us to explore.

Directive 8020 is a game that Gamer Social Club has been following for quite some time. From new features such as the Turning Points to unfortunate layoffs that coincided with delaying the games release, we’ve covered it. For those who hadn’t, here’s what you’ve been missing in one neatly packaged trailer.

Similiar to previous games, you control five characters in this horror game. You can control them on your own or by inviting up to four friends to play with you. There are still the quick time events and branching narrative that many have come to love from Supermassive. There are stealth mechanics in this game that can make you feel on edge through your game. One wrong move can seemingly be fatal. Who knew you’d have to be as stealthy as Snake in space?

In Directive 8020 the Earth is dying, humanity is running out of time, and you are 12 light years from home. You have one chance at hope and that is Tau Ceti f. But can you find hope and survive with an alien organism on your tail mimicking those around you? They say in space no one can hear you scream. But who needs to scream when that hope is gone?

Directive 8020 releases May 12th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. You can pre-order on all platforms now. For a limited of time those who order now will receive the digital deluxe upgrade at no additional cost. Will you be pre-ordering this one?
