Sometimes games simply need a little more time. That is the case for the upcoming cozy, open world exploration game Outbound. Developer Square Glade Games made the announcement on social media today that Outbound will be delayed, though not by much.
Outbound was scheduled to release next week on April 23rd. The new release date is May 14th, so only a couple week delay which isn’t too bad. While it is rare for a game to be delayed so close to release it isn’t unheard of. The reason for the delay is a good one however, and one that Square Glade should be commended for.
According to their social media post the game has been delayed due to them finding an issue with the game.

“We’ve had to make the difficult decision to delay Outbound to May 14. Late in the process, an issue has been identified that could negatively impact your enjoyment of the game. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to still guarantee a release across all platforms on the originally planned date. Please be assured that our team has worked extremely hard to address this and did everything possible to stay on schedule. We know that you may be disappointed by this news, but appreciate your understanding and believe the delay will result in a more polished, bug-free experience.”
Travellers, our launch is moving to May 14th.

Rather than just push the game out or work on the patch and hope it’s ready in time, Square Glade is taking the time to ensure they get it right and the game runs smoothly. Kudos to them. Due to the delay, the studio is also extending the demo availability on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. The demo will now be available until May 12th.
