Fans of the Metro series have long been waiting for a 4th game. Those fans don’t have to wait too much longer now. Today 4A Games alongside publisher Deep Silver and Xbox have announced that a first look at Metro 2039 will take place this Thursday with an “Xbox First Look” video presentation.
Metro 2039 will be the first new game in the series since 2019’s Metro: Last Light and follows in the footsteps of its predecessors by following the iconic Metro novels. Details at the moment are scarce on what this may be. Back in 2020 4A Games said they were developing the next game and were exploring multiplayer for the first time.

Whether multiplayer ends up being in Metro 2039 or not we will have to see. I’d argue a series like Metro doesn’t need that unless it’s to make it a co-op campaign, but I can understand why they may want to add multiplayer.
The Xbox First Look kicks off on Thursday, April 16 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST, and you can watch it live over on the official Xbox YouTube channel.
Xbox also stated in the announcement that “Xbox has always been a home for the franchise, and we’re honored to continue that relationship by bringing you a first look at this next exciting chapter.” With all the things that have been going on within Xbox the last little bit, it is good to see they are still focusing on partnerships like this.

This week is set to be a very exciting week for gamers, with a ton of releases coming and news expected. Metro 2039 adds even more to look forward to and I personally can’t wait to see what 4A has cooked up on Thursday. As always Gamer Social Club will have it all covered after the show.
