PowerWash Simulator 2: Adventure Time DLC – Review

When we got the roadmap for FuturLab’s incredible PowerWash Simulator 2 (read our review here), it was pretty vague. Q1 paid DLC. My mind started racing.

One of the things that kept me coming back to the first PowerWash Simulator was the collaboration FuturLab brought to the table with their DLC offerings. We have been transported to Wonderland, helped Winston Jeeves keep Croft Manor clean while Lara was away raiding Tombs. We even got our hands dirty with some Tech-Priests of the 41st Millennium cleaning up a Dreadnaught, so what could FuturLab be cooking up with their first major DLC for PowerWash Simulator 2?

The Fun Never Ends

Adventure time! Come on, tell your friends! We are going to go hang out with Finn and Jake in the Candy Kingdom.

First things first, I had to gather up my player 2. My darling wife does not play games, but there are a few things she will play with me. PowerWash Simulator is one of them. We are playing on my PC, so I had to get out the old fold-up camping couch we have and get the room all kitted out with snacks and drinks. Then we got stuck into couch co-op.

The first thing I noticed when loading in was the Art style. FuturLab have outdone themselves, bringing the world of Adventure Time to life. The colour palette is perfect, the cell shading, bold outlines, and just the overall vibes are spot on.

All your equipment is themed as well. The ladders are candy canes, and to top it all off, Jake is your scissor lift. With a wagging tail and all.

There are 5 levels from around the Candy Kingdom, full of cute little surprises. If you spray BMO, they will giggle. Even Gunter is there; you can place him around the level, and he will interact with the environment. All up, the DLC took us 5ish hours to complete.

Mathematical!

As you progress through your cleaning duties, a story unfolds of an epic party, and the feelings that were hurt when certain people were not invited. PowerWash Simulator 2 has never had voiced dialogue, and this Adventure Time DLC is no different. The story is told through text, which is a missed opportunity in my opinion to have some epic voice acting to really bring it to life.

Performance

The Adventure Time DLC runs the same as the base game. I didn’t notice any frame drops even during co-op.

Through my time with the Aventure Time DLC, there was one area I kept getting stuck in. Obviously, I was trying to jump to a place I wasn’t supposed to go but got stuck in a bush and had to reload. I didn’t lose any progress, so no harm.

Verdict

If you enjoyed PowerWash Simulator 2, then you will absolutely enjoy The Adventure Time DLC. It plays the same as the base game. Just more things to clean, with the added joy of the Adventure Time art style and characters.
