Rebellion are back with their next title, Alien Deathstorm, a first-person shooter, survival-horror hybrid.
The announcement was made during the latest Xbox Partner Preview showcase. The trailer, which you can see below confirms its release date along with news from Xbox that it will be available on Xbox Game Pass. It is also going to be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning you can purchase the game once and have access to it on Xbox on PC and console.
In Alien Deathstorm, you will play as a Combat Engineer, a highly trained first responder. You’ve been dispatch to a remote off-world colony that has had a total communications blackout. You are tasked with understanding what the hell’s gone on, and try to save as many folk as you can.
As you arrive, a Deathstorm is causing all manner of havoc to the colony. You will be fighting against the storm and a number of terrifying looking alien creatures.

Speaking wtih Xbox Wire, Ben Fisher, Head of Design at Rebellion, spoke of the 1980s inspiration for the game, opting for an analogue world over that of the touchscreen. They also spoke of influences of 1980s VHS sci-fi and Lovecraftian eldritch horror. Knowing how they drew on the 1960s influences for Atomfall, I’m sure there’ll be some lovely easter eggs to keep an eye out for.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge of fan of Rebellion, and were one of my favourite developers in 2025, so I’m super excited to see them back with a new title. And, it’s looking great! Will certainly be keeping an eye on this one. Will you?
Alien Deathstorm is looking to release in 2027, so we’ve got a bit of time before can get stuck in.It will release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
