Despite not much being revealed about the game outside of its original announcement this past summer, and a few hands-on previews during gamescom, Grasshopper Manufacture has already announced the release date for its upcoming action game, Romeo is a Dead Man.
Romeo is a Dead Man is an over-the-top action game much like the studio’s previous works, such as No More Heroes and Lollipop Chainsaw. The game follows a Space-Time Police officer as he tracks down intergalactic criminals while trying to save his girlfriend, and the new trailer shows Grasshopper’s trademark punk aesthetic in full force.
Romeo is a Dead Man is Coming Sooner Than Expected
During the Grasshopper Direct, studio head Goichi “Suda51” Suda revealed that Romeo is a Dead Man will release on February 11, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will cost $49.99 in the U.S and will be Grasshopper Manufacture’s first ever self-published new release, a nice change of pace given how many of its legacy IP the studio has had to split from due to working with various publishers throughout the years.
Suda was very transparent during the Direct, revealing that the game’s final code has been sent in for certification, however if there are issues it may result in the game being delayed by a week or two (something he claims Grasshopper wants to avoid given Resident Evil: Requiem’s release date). Suda also made a cheeky comment about wanting to release the game the same day as a certain other big game that was unfortunately delayed recently.
February 2026 is quickly shaping up to be an exciting month for new releases, with titles such as Resident Evil: Requiem, Yakuza Kiwami 3 + Dark Ties, Reanimal, Nioh 3, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, and more. Hopefully Romeo is a Dead Man brings the Suda51 charm in full force to stick out in the crowded release window.
