In a rare but welcome turn of events, Warner Bros. Games and Traveler’s Tales have announced that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to arrive sooner than anticipated, moving its release date up a week.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the fourth mainline installment in Traveler’s Tales and Warner Bros. Games’ series of family friendly action-adventure games inspired by the Danish toy line and based on the DC Comics universe. This entry blends elements of the live-action film adaptations with various other media, set in an open-world many have already favorably compared to Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series.
While the game was originally set to release on all major platforms except Nintendo Switch 2 on May 29, today Warner Bros. announced that Legacy of the Dark Knight will now release earlier on May 22. No reason has been given at this time. However it’s possible that IO Interactive’s 007: First Light releasing the same week could have had some effect. It’s also possible the game is simply planned to go gold earlier than expected.
This isn’t the only time in recent memory that a game has had its release moved up rather than delayed. Capcom recently revealed that its highly anticipated new IP Pragmata will be ready for release a week earlier than expected. The early half of 2026’s release slate has been somewhat unpredictable ever since the delay of Grand Theft Auto 6 from May 26 to November 19, this could be a trend we see continue as other publishers move their titles out of the way of Rockstar’s juggernaut open-world series.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will release on May 22 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch 2 version is expected to release some time later in the year.
