If there’s one game I was hoping I’d see at the Future Games Show this year it was Blight: Survival, and what do know? My prayers were answered.
Though Blight: Survival might look like your run of the mill zombie killing experience that we’ve seen a thousand times before, I have to admit there’s just something about it that feels awesome. Is it the fact that we are slaying the undead in plate armor with medieval weapons? Maybe. Is it the brutal finishers that seem to happen every after fight? Probably. Or is it simply bringing one of the most staple experiences in gaming (slaying the undead obviously) to a time period we don’t see that often in the genre? Hell yeah it is.
But enough about my own hopes and dreams for the game. Let’s get into what this new trailer has shown us. Though this deep dive is better watched then read, I have to admit there are a few things that stood out to me that really give me hope for the future of Blight: Survival. The first is that the developers seems intent on not only perfecting their idea, but making it stand out as one of the most satisfying zombie killing adventures put in our hands to date. That meant taking a step back, and rebuilding their core systems from the ground up.

“We’re designing blight to be a brutal, visceral game. Combat is meant to be felt from the first clash, to the final deadly blow. These finishers are just one part of the immersive combat system that we can’t wait to show you in the future.”
If you are interested in shaping the future of Blight and being apart of their small scale playtests, join their Discord and see what madness you can get yourself into. Till then, make sure you watch the trailer below. There’s a surprise at the end that has me more then ready to dive right in.
Blight: Survival is a PvE Action-Horror Game set in a brutal medieval world. Play in solo or team-up with up to 3 friends as you face monsters and men in a tense battle for survival. How far are you willing to go?
