Phasmophobia’s 6 Tanglewood Drive Map Rework

6 Tanglewood Drive has been a beloved spot for both new and seasoned Ghost Hunters since Phasmophobia first released in 2020. Now with the complete visual overhaul and addition of new assets, interactions, and props, even the most veteran of players will have to rediscover the layout and refreshed details of this infamous map.

Map Rework

At first glance, it might seem like very little has changed, but my immediate reaction was, “Wait… they changed the side the door opens on!” And while that might not seem like a big deal to some, those people clearly haven’t gotten stuck on the door while trying to escape… only for it to slam on your face during a hunt.

Phasmophobia’s Tanglewood is the game’s oldest original map. While players loved the simplicity of this 12-room suburban home, a revamp has always been inevitable due to Phasmo still being in early access. Developers Kinetic Games kept the map’s size and total number of rooms the same, but made a refresh to the overall visual design, layout, and a few room type changes.

Rooms such as the entryway, the bathroom, the primary bedroom with a closet and en suite, the living room, the garage, and the laundry room still exist, although with an aged charm. Added assets, props, and interactable objects give each room character and more ways for ghosts and hunters to interact. While rooms like the basement and kitchen/dining room got layout adjustments, others like Nancy’s Nursery and the blue bedroom changed room types.

New Kitchen & Basement Layouts

To improve gameplay and level flow, both the basement and kitchen have undergone substantial layout changes. While visually pleasing, this does mean players will have to relearn ghost loops and new hiding spots.

On Tanglewood’s original map, the kitchen and dining room had an open floor plan, allowing players to loop ghosts around the table and center countertops. With its rework, a pony wall has been added, making a distinct separation between the rooms. While players can still use the dining table as a looping spot, it has become a tad smaller. The biggest challenge will be relearning how to time the looping of line-of-sight ghosts like the Revenant.

The hallway that stretches in front of the dining room and kitchen is considered part of the dining room.

The basement is my new favorite room on the Tanglewood map. It is no longer just a place for storage, it has become an adorable train hobbyist’s haven. While the rework took away the kitchen counter upstairs, the addition of a train table has added a great place to loop ghosts.

You can also interact with the train table. At the far end of the room, there is a table with 4 remotes, each activating its own little easter egg. From left to right, one turns on train sounds, two makes the train move around the track, three puffs steam out of the train’s stack, and four turns on the lights around the track.

New Rooms

As beloved as Nancy’s Nursery and the Blue Bedroom were, they didn’t offer much and had very few objects the ghost could interact with. The rework of Tanglewood has transformed these two rooms into more complex spaces.

Children’s Bedroom

Once a simple nursery, this room has been transformed into a child’s bedroom complete with more than just throwable blocks and toys. Objects such as the dollhouse and rocking horse can come alive if the ghost happens to choose this room. It is also no longer the home for the music box, but the voodoo doll.

Hobby Room

Rest in peace, blue bedroom. We loved glitching ourselves onto the bed to avoid the ghost. This room has probably gotten the biggest change on the Tanglewood Map. The addition of all the new items has made this room a Poltergeist’s dream. The closet is still a hiding place option.

Power Boxes

Power boxes on the Tanglewood map can still be found in the basement and garage, but in different locations than the original:

Garage: The power box can now be found on the right wall just past the grill. Although it is a bit farther away from the door, it is visible from the doorway.

Basement: Players can find the power box located on the same wall of the basement, but shifted to the left and closer to the bottom of the stairs. Another power box location that can be seen from the doorway.

Easter Eggs

It wouldn’t be a Phasmophobia map if there weren’t any Easter eggs. Some are new, and some of them… yes, the potato is still here. Now, these are only the Easter eggs I have personally experienced. Let me know in the comments what you have experienced!

Let’s start with the potato. The potato is still a static Easter egg located in the kitchen, but in a new location. Same noise, same creepy face.

A new Easter egg is the addition of an adorable gnome that can be found to the left of the sidewalk entrance. Although this cutie doesn’t do anything outside, when brought to the ghost room, he can be heard saying things like ” hey” and “It’s wet out here” (it was raining on the map). These are the only two I have heard so far. I’m secretly excited (and also scared) to hear what other catch phrases he might have.

Entangled Terror Challenge Badge

Along with the new Tanglewood rework comes a new challenge. You must correctly identify the ghost and survive 50 times. You can do this specific challenge on any skill level.

The Hunted Badge

Back when the Nell’s Diner Map was released, players could do a few tasks and receive a new badge. (Don’t have it yet, check out the Nell’s Diner Badge article) Other than the challenge badge, Tanglewood unfortunately does not have one that you can obtain by easter eggs. ( at the time of writing this article) You can, however, receive “The Hunted” badge until March 10th, 2026, by watching a total of 2 hours of Kinetic Games Partner streams on Twitch.

You must have a Twitch account in order to receive this badge. In-game, click the Twitch drops button, and click connect to get a code. Copy said code and head over to twitch.tv/activate. Paste your code and click authorize. Once you’ve watched for about 10-15 minutes, head over to twitch.tv/drops/inventory to see if you have progress. After 2 hours are up, refresh and click claim. If you’re in-game, restart for it to show up. Remember, you must watch a total of 2 hours of Phasmophobia streamed by a Kinetic Games Partner to get the badge. You can find a list of Kinetic Games Partners here.
