Some PlayStation 5 Details Emerge For Crimson Desert As PR Director Is Tired Of Repeating Himself

A game like Crimson Desert comes along but only once or twice per generation. A game that gets so much hype it is hard to ignore. With that hype comes a lot of excitement, and also some doubt on if it can deliver. With Crimson Desert that doubt has come from some gamers and the lack of console footage and details. Today, developer Pearl Abyss gave some details on console performance in hopes of quelling those doubt.

Previews for the game released today from content creators and select media, and one of the more interesting ones came from PlayStation themselves. The previews have been universally positive, but the PlayStation one in particular is catching people’s attention as it mentions some specific performance metrics on PlayStation 5.

According to the blog Pearl Abyss will make “heavy use of the PS5 Pro’s High CPU Frequency Mode to make viewing and moving through the world as seamless as possible.”

They also plan to utilize the Geometry Shader Oversubscription and NGG Culling in the PlayStation 5 to help render elements without losing detail in its vast world.

Additionally they are taking advantage of the Pros’s upgraded PSSR to help render the game in 4K at higher frame rates. They will also take full advantage of the Pro’s raytracing ability to make lighting effects more realistic and natural.

While we don’t have any specific performance metrics on things such as FPS (there’s been stuff out there but nothing official), the fact that they released some details should help calm down some fans. However, until we see game play shown, others will still have their concerns.

Will Powers, the Marketing PR at Pearl Abyss has said not to worry and they will be showing more, but things are getting tight in terms of a timeline to do so.

“We’re Not Hiding Anything”

Whether you are concerned about console performance or not, it does seem that the community has been vocal enough with their concerns to the point where Powers has spoken up.

Responding to a post last night on X about the studio hiding the console version, Powers said “We’re not hiding anything, and I’m sick of having to repeat myself. I’ve repeated 100s of times that we’ll reveal things ahead of launch to give people adequate time to still preorder the game for themselves. We’re saying this openly…Let us Cook? Please and thank you.”

Some fans have come out and applauded and defended Powers and the studio, while others wern’t satisfied with the response and still want to see footage. With the fact that reviewers were only given access to the PC version of the game (valid concern) and with an embargo dropping the day before release (silly concern) the voices have only gotten louder.

Regardless of how this shakes out and what side of the fence you are on in regards to waiting for the console performance, we won’t have to wait too much longer, With Crimson Desert releasing March 19th, one way or another we will all find out.
